Luis Seabra’s Alvarinho Granito Cru offers a more layered, age-worthy expression of Portugal’s famed Alvarinho grape than the region’s familiar fresh, sprightly style. From the granite soils of Monção e Melgaço, it pairs ripe fruit and depth with a pronounced mineral character.

Tasting Notes
The wine is described as complex and deep, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit. On the palate, expect generous fruit balanced by freshness and a stony, mineral edge shaped by its granite-grown Alvarinho. Its concentration and time on the lees give it a more textured profile than a simple, youthful white.

Production
The grapes come from lean granite soils in the Monção e Melgaço subregion, where yields were sharply reduced to concentrate the fruit. The supplied cuvée notes describe a short maceration, gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation, followed by around 12 months of maturation in Slovenian oak tonneaux on the full lees. These production details are provided with a description referring to the 2022 vintage; the listing is for 2023.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 10–12°C with grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, or poultry with a light herb or citrus sauce. Its depth and mineral freshness also make it a good match for dishes featuring mushrooms or firm, aged cheeses. Decanting is not essential, though a little time in the glass can help the wine open up.
