Description

Livio Sassetti Pertimali Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2015 is a classic expression of Sangiovese Grosso from the renowned Montosoli area, north of Montalcino. Its extended maturation and the vintage’s balance of ripe fruit and freshness make it a compelling bottle for the table now, with further development ahead; Brunello itself has a long-standing place among Tuscany’s most celebrated wines.

Tasting Notes
The nose brings together sour and dark cherry with dried fruit and raisin, followed by truffle, leather, tobacco and earthy nuances. On the palate, the wine is full and rounded, with lively acidity and gently firm tannins giving structure and keeping its mature fruit in balance. The 2015 is already showing appealing maturity, yet its freshness and tannic backbone suggest it can continue to evolve in the cellar. A James Suckling score of 98 points reflects the vintage’s notable quality.

Production
Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grown in the Montosoli zone north of Montalcino, this Riserva is matured for at least 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by additional bottle ageing. Harvesting and vinification details were not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast or braised beef, lamb, game, or aged hard cheeses. Decant for one to two hours before serving to allow the wine to open and reveal its savoury complexity.
