Description

Lisini’s 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia is a single-vineyard Sangiovese, made from the estate’s namesake site and matured for four years in large Slavonian oak casks. With a 97-point score from Jeb Dunnuck and a suggested drinking window of 2026–2046, it offers both immediate appeal and considerable potential to evolve in the cellar.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant, layered with lavender, liquorice, leather and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a lingering, savoury hint of salt. Its balance of structure and freshness should reward further ageing. Jeb Dunnuck gives it a drinking window from 2026 to 2046.

Production
Ugolaia comes from Lisini’s namesake vineyard in Montalcino and spends four years ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. Harvesting methods, specific vineyard conditions and further vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Pair with braised beef, roast lamb, game dishes or aged pecorino. Serve at around 16–18°C; decant for about an hour before serving, particularly when opening a young bottle.
