Description
Le Vigne di Zamò Pinot Grigio 2025 is a refined, dry white wine that captures the elegant, mineral-driven character of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Produced from organically farmed Pinot Grigio grapes and combining stainless-steel freshness with a portion aged in oak, it offers considerably more depth and texture than a typical light Pinot Grigio. The estate, founded in 1978 between Manzano and Rosazzo, is closely associated with the region’s tradition of distinctive, terroir-focused white wines.
Tasting Notes
Bright and fresh in appearance, this Pinot Grigio opens with delicate aromas of citrus, white flowers and ripe orchard fruit, accompanied by a subtle mineral and saline nuance. On the palate, lively acidity meets a rounded, gently creamy texture, with fine structure from the oak-aged portion and regular bâtonnage. The finish is clean, persistent and distinctly salty, leaving a refreshing impression that invites another sip.
Although enjoyable in its youth for its freshness and energy, the wine’s structure and restrained oak influence allow it to develop additional complexity over the next few years when carefully stored.
Production
The vineyards lie in the hills between Manzano and Rosazzo in Udine, an area renowned for producing expressive white wines. The grapes are grown according to organic farming principles and harvested at full ripeness before being destemmed. One portion undergoes cold maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless-steel tanks, while the remainder macerates on its skins for four days before completing fermentation in oak barrels. The two components mature separately for around six months with weekly bâtonnage; malolactic fermentation takes place only in the oak-aged portion. They are then blended to create a balanced, dry and harmonious final cuvée.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C. Its vibrant acidity and savoury, saline finish make it an excellent partner for grilled or steamed fish, shellfish, sushi, fresh salads and light Mediterranean dishes. It also pairs naturally with fresh cheeses and delicate poultry preparations. Decanting is not necessary, although allowing the wine to breathe briefly in the glass can reveal more of its mineral and gently creamy character.
