Le Piane Rosso Piane 2023 is a characterful Piedmont red that brings together the rustic charm of Croatina and the floral spice of Vespolina. Born from the revival of the historic Antonio Cerri estate in 1998, it reflects both local heritage and a thoughtful, hands-on winemaking approach.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, inviting red color that hints at its generous fruit profile. The nose is layered with dark berries, ripe fruit, and subtle tobacco notes, giving it a warm, expressive personality. On the palate, the wine feels full and textured, with plenty of depth and a long, persistent finish. The combination of fruit concentration and supporting oak influence suggests a wine with good cellaring potential, especially for those who enjoy Piedmont reds with structure and personality.

Production
Rosso Piane comes from vineyards in Piedmont and is made from 90% Croatina and 10% Vespolina. Fermentation and skin maceration last eight days in open 25 hl wooden vats with manual punch-downs three times a day, followed by pressing and aging in a mix of new and one-year-old tonneaux, as well as a 12 hl Slavonian oak cask. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wood, and the wine is bottled two years after harvest.

This is a versatile red for hearty, flavorful dishes such as braised meats, roast lamb, game, mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 30-60 minutes to allow the aromatics and texture to खुल fully.
