Description

Presented in a giftbox, Krug 2004 is a vintage Champagne that captures the character of a single year through a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. After more than ten years in Krug’s cellars, it offers a poised combination of freshness, richness and refined complexity.

Tasting Notes
Its pale golden colour hints at the wine’s lively freshness. The expressive nose opens with ginger, candied citrus and quince, followed by notes of lemon meringue tart, plum and mirabelle. On the palate, it is balanced and layered, with light brioche and honey giving way to fresh orange, lemon and mandarin. An elegant finish completes the picture. Its long cellar ageing has already brought complexity, and it can be enjoyed now or kept for further development under suitable conditions.

Production
Krug Vintage is made from the most expressive wines of a single harvest, with the proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier varying from year to year. The 2004 spent more than ten years ageing in Krug’s cellars before release. Specific vineyard, harvesting and vinification details for this edition are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 10–12°C, with seafood, roast poultry or dishes featuring delicate cream sauces; its citrus freshness also suits hard, mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential, though a brief rest in the glass can allow the aromas to open.

Producer
Founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, Champagne Krug is known for its meticulous approach to blending and for giving each vintage its own character. The house is one of Champagne’s most recognised producers, with a reputation built on expressive, cellar-aged wines.
