The 2017 Kellerkiste “Von den Grossen Lagen” is an exceptionally rare collector’s assortment from Klaus Peter Keller, bringing together twelve bottles from some of the Rheinhessen estate’s most sought-after vineyards and cuvées. It includes two bottles of the legendary G-Max Riesling—made available exclusively through this assortment—alongside Grosses Gewächs and gold-capsule Auslese bottlings. Presented in its original 12-bottle wooden case, this is the final Kellerkiste of its kind and a significant snapshot of one of Germany’s most celebrated Riesling vintages.

Tasting Notes
The case offers a broad exploration of Keller’s style, from the profound, mineral-driven G-Max to the distinctive Grosses Gewächs wines from Morstein, Abts E, Kirchspiel, Hubacker and Hipping. Expect brilliant colour and remarkable clarity, with aromas ranging from citrus zest, white peach and orchard fruit to crushed stone, wild herbs and subtle smoky notes. On the palate, these wines combine concentrated fruit with vibrant acidity, fine texture and a distinctly mineral finish. The two gold-capsule Auslese wines add a richer, sweeter dimension, balancing ripe stone fruit and honeyed nuances with refreshing acidity. The 2017 vintage has the structure, freshness and concentration to reward extended cellaring. Production
The assortment is sourced from Keller’s celebrated vineyards in Rheinhessen, where limestone-rich soils and carefully tended slopes provide the foundation for Rieslings of precision, depth and longevity. It comprises two G-Max Riesling 2017, two Morstein Riesling GG, two Abts E Riesling GG, two Kirchspiel Riesling GG, one Hubacker Riesling GG, one Hipping Riesling GG, one Abts E Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel and one Dalsheim Hubacker Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel. Each wine is presented as a separate vineyard or quality expression, showcasing the differences in terroir and style within Keller’s estate. Food & Serving
The dry Rieslings are excellent with refined seafood, oysters, sashimi, grilled river fish, roast poultry and dishes featuring herbs or delicate cream sauces. Their acidity and mineral character also make them a natural match for Asian cuisine, while the Auslese Goldkapsel wines are ideal with foie gras, blue cheese, fruit-based desserts or as a contemplative finish to a meal. Serve the dry wines lightly chilled at approximately 10–12°C and the Auslese at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not essential, but a brief decant can help younger bottles—particularly the G-Max and Grosses Gewächs wines—open in the glass.
