Klaus Peter Keller’s 2018 Hipping Riesling GG is a refined Grosses Gewächs from one of Nierstein’s most celebrated vineyard sites on the Roter Hang in Rheinhessen. Produced from carefully selected Riesling grapes, it combines remarkable precision and freshness with the depth, minerality and ageing potential expected from a top German dry Riesling.

Tasting Notes
The wine has a bright, luminous golden-yellow colour. Its expressive bouquet reveals ripe apple, citrus fruit and subtle hints of honey, complemented by an elegant mineral character. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, with concentrated fruit, vibrant acidity and a refined, harmonious texture. The finish is long and distinctly mineral, leaving a precise and refreshing impression. Already impressive, the 2018 vintage has the structure to develop further complexity with bottle age. Properly stored, it should mature gracefully over the coming years, gaining additional layers of spice, dried fruit and savoury mineral nuance.

Production
The Hipping vineyard is situated near Nierstein on the steep slopes of the Roter Hang, where weathered red slate soils contribute distinctive minerality and finesse. The grapes are selected from this outstanding site and harvested at optimal ripeness before being gently vinified to preserve the purity of the Riesling fruit and the character of the vineyard. As a Grosses Gewächs, the wine represents one of the highest expressions of dry Riesling from the estate.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C. Its freshness and mineral structure make it an excellent partner for grilled or poached fish, shellfish, poultry and light cheese dishes. It can be enjoyed immediately, although a short decant or time in a large Burgundy-style glass can help reveal its aromatic depth; older bottles are best opened carefully and given a little air if needed.
