K.F. Groebe’s 2019 Kirchspiel Grande Réserve is a limited-availability, feinherb Riesling auction wine, released only after at least six years of bottle ageing. Production
Made from Riesling in the Kirchspiel vineyard in Westhofen, Rheinhessen, the Grande Réserve was conceived by Fritz Groebe after he discovered and tasted a bottle of 1924 Riesling Spätlese in the cellar in 2004. Inspired by the older wine’s remarkable freshness, he developed a modern take on this historical style. Harvesting and vinification details are not provided; the wine is released after a minimum of six years in bottle.

Food & Serving
Its feinherb style should suit dishes that benefit from a little sweetness and lively acidity, such as aromatic Asian cuisine, pork or mildly spiced dishes, as well as a festive meal. Serve lightly chilled, around 8–10°C. Decanting is not essential; open the bottle shortly before serving and allow it a little time in the glass to unfold.
