Description

Judith Beck’s Welschriesling Bambule! 2022 is a lively, characterful orange wine made with minimal intervention. Part of Beck’s Bambule! range of unfiltered wines made without added sulphur, it offers a distinctive, skin-macerated take on Welschriesling from old Burgenland vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Straw-yellow to golden in colour, with a slight natural haze. The expressive nose brings together fennel blossom, malt and apple skin, followed by ripe pear, papaya and a hint of lemon zest. On the palate, lively acidity and a lightly phenolic texture give the wine plenty of grip, balanced by an elegant, savoury character with notes of apple, earth and salt. No specific bottle-aging guidance is provided; enjoy it while its fresh energy is on show.

Production
The Welschriesling comes from old vineyards in Burgenland. The grapes are destemmed but left uncrushed, then macerated on their skins for around ten days. The wine spends a further eight months on full lees in used barriques before being bottled unfiltered and without added sulphur. Harvesting methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Try it with roasted vegetables, herb-forward dishes, charcuterie or aged cheeses—the wine’s acidity, savoury notes and gentle tannic grip suit a range of flavours and textures. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. Decanting is optional; a short time in the glass can help open up its aromas.
