Description
Judith Beck Koreaa Bio 2024 is a characterful, lightly skin-contact orange wine from Burgenland, made from old vines planted in a traditional mixed field blend. Its name refers to the vineyard’s remote position, which local parlance likens to the other end of the world.
Tasting Notes
A deep, saturated golden-yellow in the glass, it opens with a wild, expressive aroma of yellow apple, elderflower, muscat, herbs and citrus zest, followed by green hazelnut, dried-fruit and earthy-mineral notes. The palate is remarkably fresh, with a fine, satisfying tannic frame: a little untamed at first, yet harmonious and well structured.
Production
The old vines grow in a traditional mixed planting of Scheurebe, Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Welschriesling, Zweigelt and other varieties. The grapes are harvested together, macerated on their skins for two days, then pressed and spontaneously fermented. The wine matures for six months on its full lees, resulting in a gently textured, light-style orange wine.
Food & Serving
Its freshness and fine tannins make it a good match for spice-forward dishes, as well as roasted vegetables, earthy mushroom dishes and savoury foods with a little richness. Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. A short time in the glass should help its lively aromas unfold; extended decanting is not necessary.
