Jermann Where Dreams 2023

Jermann Where Dreams Have No End… 2023 is an expressive Friuli-Venezia Giulia Chardonnay that combines generous fruit, polished oak and refreshing acidity. Created in 1987 as a musical tribute to U2’s *The Joshua Tree*, it has become one of Jermann’s most recognisable wines—an elegant, distinctive bottling where artistic inspiration meets northern Italian finesse.

Tasting Notes
Bright straw yellow in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of exotic fruit, baked apple, yellow flowers and honey, complemented by notes of butter, vanilla and pastry from its oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with a refined, lightly spiced sweetness of texture balanced by fresh acidity and a precise, lingering finish. Its combination of fruit, structure and acidity gives it the capacity to develop further in bottle over the medium term, while already offering considerable complexity in its 2023 vintage. With careful cellaring, the wine’s savoury and honeyed nuances should become increasingly pronounced.

Production
The Chardonnay is sourced from vineyards in Dolegna del Collio and Villanova di Farra, in the Venezia Giulia area. The soils are composed of marl-rich sandstone and sandy marl, contributing both richness and mineral tension to the wine. Following careful vinification designed to preserve the grape’s aromatic character, the wine matures for 11 months in small French oak barrels, where it gains depth, subtle spice and a beautifully rounded texture. Specific harvesting methods are not provided, but the finished wine reflects precise vineyard selection and a measured approach to oak.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 10–12°C with lean fish, shellfish, seafood starters and refined appetisers. Its creamy texture and fresh acidity also make it a natural partner for poultry, delicate pasta dishes and a selection of medium-bodied cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but a short 20–30 minute decant can help the wine open and allow its fruit, pastry and oak nuances to emerge.
