Jean Josselin Alliance R.22 NV

Jean Josselin Alliance R.22 NV is a precise, richly textured Champagne from Gyé-sur-Seine, made predominantly from Pinot Noir and based on the 2020 harvest. Disgorged in January 2025 with a restrained dosage of just 2.5 g/L, it combines generous fruit, polished mousse and a distinctly mineral, saline finish.

Tasting Notes
The wine opens with a bright, golden appearance and a fine, softly persistent mousse. Its expressive nose brings together ripe pear, white peach and orange zest, complemented by the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread from its time on the lees. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, broad and distinctly vinous, with layered fruit and a supple, creamy texture. The mature yet lively acidity provides balance, while the gentle mousse carries the wine through to a long, intensely saline finish. It is delicious now, with the concentration and freshness to develop further over the short to medium term.

Production
Sourced from Pinot Noir parcels in Gyé-sur-Seine, in Champagne’s Côte des Bar, this cuvée is based on the 2020 vintage. The wine was disgorged in January 2025 and finished with a low dosage of 2.5 grams per litre, preserving its freshness and allowing the ripe fruit, bready lees character and mineral detail to take centre stage. Specific harvesting and vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Its richness and saline freshness make it a versatile partner for oysters, scallops, prawns and other shellfish, while its vinous character also suits roast chicken, grilled white fish and creamy seafood dishes. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not essential, but allowing the Champagne a few minutes in a generous glass can reveal additional texture and aromatic depth.
