Description

Jean Gagnerot Pouilly-Fuissé 2024 is a refined white Burgundy that captures the pure, mineral-driven character of Chardonnay from the southern Mâconnais. Sourced from selected vineyards in the heart of Pouilly-Fuissé, it offers a bright, modern expression with classic Burgundian depth. This is a bottle for those who appreciate precision, freshness and subtle oak in their white wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pouilly-Fuissé shows a clear, pale straw color with greenish reflections, hinting at its youth and vibrancy. The nose opens with fresh citrus—think lemon zest and grapefruit—alongside ripe orchard fruits like pear and white peach, layered with notes of acacia blossom, chalky minerality and a gentle touch of hazelnut or fresh butter. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegantly textured, balancing ripe fruit with a firm, linear acidity. Flavors of crisp apple, lemon curd and stone fruit merge with subtle brioche and a delicate creaminess, suggesting partial oak aging without overpowering the fruit. The finish is long and clean, driven by saline minerality and a mouthwatering freshness that invites another sip. Enjoyable in its youth for its energy and aromatics, this 2024 vintage also has the structure to develop additional complexity over the next 3–5 years, gaining more nutty and honeyed nuances with time.

Production
Pouilly-Fuissé lies in the southern part of Burgundy’s Mâconnais, where limestone-rich soils and sunny, well-exposed slopes bring both tension and generosity to Chardonnay. Jean Gagnerot sources fruit from carefully selected parcels, with grapes harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve acidity and aromatic finesse. After gentle pressing and cold settling, the must is fermented at controlled temperatures—partly in stainless steel to retain freshness and partly, typically, in oak to add texture and subtle complexity. A period of aging on fine lees helps build mid-palate creaminess and aromatic depth, resulting in a wine that marries precision, minerality and Burgundian richness.

Food & Serving
This Pouilly-Fuissé is a versatile partner at the table, especially with refined seafood and poultry dishes. It shines alongside seared scallops, grilled prawns, buttery lobster, roasted chicken with herbs, or veal in a light cream sauce; it also pairs beautifully with goat cheese, mild cow’s milk cheeses and simple dishes like roast vegetable tarts. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally around 10–12°C (50–54°F), to allow the aromas to unfold. A brief 15–20 minutes in the glass or decanter before serving can help the wine open up, especially in its first couple of years.

Producer
Jean Gagnerot is a historic Burgundy name, with roots that reflect the region’s long-standing tradition of precise, terroir-driven wines. Working across key appellations, the house has built a reputation for crafting wines that faithfully express their origin while remaining accessible and food-friendly. In Pouilly-Fuissé, Jean Gagnerot focuses on clarity of fruit, balanced use of oak and a clean, modern style that still respects Burgundian heritage. The label’s consistent quality and strong regional identity have helped make it a reliable choice for those seeking authentic Burgundy at a thoughtful price point.
