J. Charpentier Champagne Extra Brut Millésime 2019 is a refined, dry Champagne that combines precision with real character. Crafted from Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, it reflects the artisanal touch of an independent grower in one of Champagne’s most historic villages.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow color with delicate greenish reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is expressive and vibrant, with citrus, floral notes, and a hint of caramel adding depth and complexity.
On the palate, it is crisp and elegant, with good length and a clean profile shaped by white-fleshed fruit and a very subtle dosage. The Extra Brut style keeps the focus firmly on freshness and purity, while the 2019 vintage gives it enough structure to age gracefully for several years.
Production
This Champagne comes from Villers-sous-Châtillon in the heart of the Champagne region, an area recognized by UNESCO for its cultural landscape and ideal growing conditions. J. Charpentier farms according to strict organic and sustainable principles, drawing on five generations of family know-how to express the character of the terroir as authentically as possible.
The wine is vinified with alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks and oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation for balance and texture. Secondary fermentation takes place in bottle using the traditional method, and the Extra Brut dosage preserves the wine’s clarity, tension, and sense of place.
Food & Serving
Ideal with delicate appetizers, sushi, shellfish, and seafood, this Champagne also pairs beautifully with a selection of cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, and consider brief decanting only if you prefer to soften the mousse slightly—though it is best enjoyed straight from the bottle for maximum freshness.
