Description

I Magredi Pinot Grigio 2025 is a fresh, precise expression of Friuli Grave in northeastern Italy, made entirely from Pinot Grigio. Its stony terroir and cool Alpine–Adriatic climate give the wine a distinctive combination of ripe fruit, lively acidity and mineral character. The estate has been focused on quality wine production since the late 1980s and is now part of the Valdo Group.

Tasting Notes
The wine is clear and intensely straw-yellow in the glass. Its elegant aroma combines white flowers, apple and pear with notes of citrus, dried hay and subtle tropical fruit. On the palate, it is dry, softly textured and harmonious, with juicy fruit, refreshing acidity and a mineral edge that brings clarity and balance. Notes of pear, melon, lime, lemon citrus and yellow apple add freshness and depth. This is a Pinot Grigio with immediate drinking appeal, yet it offers more structure and terroir character than many lighter examples of the variety. Best enjoyed young and fresh, ideally within the next one to three years. The 2025 vintage received a Bronze medal at The Global Pinot Grigio/Pinot Gris Masters 2026 and was described as dry, medium-bodied and lively, with approximately 4 g/l of residual sugar.

Production
The grapes come from Friuli Grave, a broad area shaped by the gravel and stones deposited by local rivers over centuries. These free-draining soils encourage deep rooting, while the stones absorb warmth during the day and release it at night, helping the grapes develop ripe flavours while retaining freshness. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed and the must is clarified at low temperature before fermentation. The wine is then matured exclusively in stainless-steel tanks, with no oak ageing, preserving the purity of the fruit and the mineral character of the terroir.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. It makes an inviting aperitif and pairs easily with fresh seafood, grilled prawns, sushi, oysters, light pasta dishes, risotto, salads and delicate white fish. Its freshness also works well with lightly seasoned poultry and soft cheeses. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving or pour into a suitable white-wine glass to allow the aromas to emerge.

Producer
I Magredi is based in Domanins, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The estate was acquired by Otello Tombacco in 1968 and originally combined vineyards with orchards and other agricultural activities. After Michelangelo Tombacco joined the family business in 1985, the estate gradually developed into a dedicated wine producer, with wine becoming its central focus by the end of the decade. A collaboration with the Bolla family behind Valdo began in the 1990s, and I Magredi subsequently became part of the Valdo Group. The winery has continued to modernise and was further expanded in 2024, while maintaining a clear focus on clean, varietally expressive wines that reflect the freshness of Friuli Grave.
