Description

Hubert Lignier’s 2023 Volnay brings together fine Pinot Noir fruit, aromatic precision and the graceful texture associated with this Côte de Beaune village. Presented in a 1.5-litre magnum, it is a generous bottle for sharing—and, according to Jasper Morris, one that will benefit from further ageing.

Tasting Notes
The nose is finely drawn, with delicate strawberry fruit and an elegant, silky finish. The focus is on finesse rather than weight, allowing the wine’s aromatic character to come through. Its 2023 vintage has the structure to reward patience; further bottle ageing should allow the wine to develop additional complexity. The magnum format is also well suited to slower, more measured maturation.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 15–16°C with roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin or mushroom dishes, where the wine’s red-fruit character and supple texture can complement the food without overpowering it. A brief decant may help the youthful aromas open, though extended decanting is unlikely to be necessary.
