Why shop with us?
Hofgut Falkenstein’s Krettnacker Echariusberg Riesling Spätlese is a still, late-harvest white wine that showcases the elegance and freshness of the Saar. Made from Riesling grown in the Echariusberg vineyard near Krettnach, it balances ripe fruit with the region’s characteristic mineral edge.
Tasting Notes
Straw yellow with green highlights, it opens with fresh citrus aromas. The palate is juicy and lively, with a lingering finish and a balance of natural sweetness and mineral freshness. Its structure gives it good potential to develop in bottle.
Production
The grapes come from the Echariusberg vineyard in Krettnach, in Germany’s Mosel region, where Hofgut Falkenstein follows the traditional Saar style. The Spätlese classification indicates a late harvest, allowing the Riesling grapes to reach advanced ripeness. Winemaking aims to preserve the fruit’s character while balancing residual sugar with the wine’s mineral freshness.
Food & Serving
Serve at 10–12°C with lean fish, poultry, light meats or mild cheeses. Decanting is generally unnecessary; opening the bottle shortly before serving should allow its aromas to emerge.
Producer
Hofgut Falkenstein is a Saar winery led by winemaker Erich Weber, whose approach emphasizes careful work in the vineyard and a faithful expression of the region’s traditional style. The estate’s wines are known for combining Riesling fruit with freshness and mineral character.
