Glenfiddich 26 Year Old Grande Couronne is an exceptional Speyside single malt that brings together long maturation, refined sweetness, and unmistakable Glenfiddich character. Finished in French cognac casks, it offers a luxurious layered profile that sets it apart from the distillery’s core range and highlights Glenfiddich’s tradition of innovation dating back to 1887.
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in the glass, it opens with rich aromas of buttery pastry, brown sugar, toasted oak, and soft orchard fruit, followed by elegant notes of vanilla, spice, and a touch of polished leather. On the palate, it is velvety and indulgent, with flavors of caramelised fruit, cinnamon, citrus peel, and sweet oak unfolding into a long, warming finish with a graceful balance of sweetness and spice.
This is a whisky built for slow appreciation. Its extended ageing and cognac-cask finishing give it impressive depth and complexity, with enough structure to reward careful tasting over time.
Production
Produced in Speyside, the whisky reflects Glenfiddich’s signature smoothness and the cool, stable climate of the region, which supports slow and even maturation. The spirit is matured for 26 years and finished in French cognac casks, a technique that adds richness, layered sweetness, and a distinctive continental elegance to the whisky.
Food & Serving
Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open the aromatics and soften the oak. Pair it with dark chocolate, crème brûlée, roasted nuts, or a fine cigar; it also works beautifully as a contemplative after-dinner dram. Serve at room temperature, and decanting is not necessary.
Producer
Glenfiddich is one of Scotland’s most celebrated single malt producers and remains a benchmark name in Speyside whisky. Founded by William Grant in 1887, the distillery has played a major role in popularising single malt around the world and is known for combining tradition with innovation. The Grande Couronne release reflects that legacy, showcasing both long maturation and adventurous cask finishing.
