Franz Haas Pinot Nero Schweizer 2023

Franz Haas Pinot Nero Schweizer 2023 is an elegant Alto Adige Pinot Noir, shaped by high-altitude vineyards and the region’s distinctive mountain climate. Its combination of ripe berry and cherry fruit, spice, and measured oak gives it both immediate appeal and the structure to develop with time.

Tasting Notes
Ruby red in the glass, it opens with aromas of ripe forest berries and cherries, accompanied by hints of pepper and leather. The palate is harmonious and finely structured, with embracing tannins and a persistent red-fruit character.

Production
The Pinot Noir grapes grow at elevations of 350–700 metres above sea level, in silty soils with sandy, calcareous, and gravelly deposits. The producer describes low yields and vinification in open vats, with regular pumping over and punch-downs to encourage extraction. After a period in stainless steel, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures in small oak barrels for 12 months, followed by further ageing before release.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with red meat, game, or mature cheeses. A short rest in the glass should allow its aromas to emerge; if opening the bottle young, consider decanting it for around 30 minutes.
