Description
Fattoria Nannì Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva Origini 2024 is an organic white wine that captures the character of Verdicchio through mountain altitude, old vines and patient maturation. Elegant yet structured, it combines vibrant acidity with mineral depth and a distinctive almond-tinged finish. The wine pays tribute to the estate’s close connection with Monte San Vicino and the alluvial soils that define its vineyards.
Tasting Notes
Bright and refined in appearance, this Verdicchio opens with an expressive bouquet of elderflower, yellow fruit and almond, layered with delicate hints of sage and mint. With time in the glass, the aromatic profile develops towards candied fruit, lemon zest, saffron and chamomile.
On the palate, the wine is fresh and well-balanced, with a supple texture supported by lively acidity and pronounced mineral character. Its long finish combines citrus freshness with Verdicchio’s classic, gently bitter almond note. The 12 months spent on fine lees give the wine added depth and complexity, while its structure suggests it will develop gracefully over the next several years when properly stored.
Production
The vineyards are located around Apiro in the Marche, at approximately 420 metres above sea level, where more than 58-year-old Verdicchio vines grow in alluvial soils formed by deposits from Monte San Vicino. Naturally low yields help concentrate the grapes while preserving the site’s mineral identity. Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates from late September into October. The whole bunches are chilled before being gently pressed in the absence of oxygen, protecting their freshness and aromatic precision. Following fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months on fine lees and then rests for a further six months in bottle before release.
Food & Serving
A versatile partner for grilled fish, shellfish and Mediterranean seafood dishes, this Riserva also works well with herb-roasted poultry, creamy pasta and dishes featuring asparagus or artichoke. Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C. It can be enjoyed directly after opening, although decanting for 20–30 minutes may help reveal its more evolved notes of citrus peel, saffron and chamomile.
Producer
Fattoria Nannì is based in the Marche’s Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico area, where the estate focuses on expressing the identity of its high-altitude vineyards and the influence of Monte San Vicino. Origini represents the winery’s vision of a deeply authentic Verdicchio, made from old vines and given time to gain texture and complexity on its lees. The 2023 vintage of the wine was awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso, underlining its standing among Italy’s notable Verdicchios.
