Famiglia Pasqua Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore 2023 is a classic expression of Veneto, bringing together the region’s signature native grapes in a style that balances richness, freshness, and approachable elegance. Produced by Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine, it reflects the family’s deep roots in Verona and their commitment to crafting wines that celebrate the great traditions of the area.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Ripasso Superiore typically shows a deep ruby color with garnet reflections. The nose is inviting and layered, with ripe red cherry, blackberry, dried plum, sweet spice, and subtle hints of cocoa and dried herbs.
On the palate, it is smooth and medium-to-full bodied, with juicy dark fruit, gentle tannins, and a rounded texture enriched by the Ripasso method. The finish is warm and persistent, with notes of spice and dried fruit. While enjoyable now for its generous style, it should also hold well for a few years in bottle.
Production
Made from Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone, and Negrara, this wine comes from the Valpolicella area in Veneto, where the combination of hillside vineyards and a temperate climate helps preserve freshness while building flavor concentration. The Ripasso Superiore style is traditionally created by refermenting Valpolicella wine on the pomace of Amarone or Recioto, which adds body, depth, and complexity before maturation.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, ideal with roasted meats, grilled lamb, braised beef, pasta with rich meat sauces, and mature hard cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30 minutes if you want to open up the aromas and soften the structure.
