Domaine Thierry Allemand’s Cornas Reynard 2017 is a deeply characterful Syrah from one of Cornas’s most celebrated steep hillside sites. Made in small quantities by a highly regarded, hands-on grower, it combines the appellation’s rugged structure with the distinctive depth and finesse of Reynard.

Tasting Notes
The wine typically shows a deep ruby colour, with aromas of dark berries, black pepper, violet and savoury notes that can develop toward olive, smoke and earth with age. On the palate, expect concentrated black-fruit flavours, firm but fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral-edged finish.

Reynard is a steep, granitic hillside lieu-dit in Cornas, where Syrah is hand-harvested from carefully tended vines. Thierry Allemand is known for a traditional, low-intervention approach, including fermentations that may use whole bunches and maturation in older wooden vessels; exact details can vary by vintage. The 2017 has the structure to develop in bottle for many years when well stored.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with a little time to open. Decant for one to two hours when young, or pour gently if the bottle has matured and sediment is present. It pairs well with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, game and dishes with mushrooms or herbs.
