Domaine Rabasse Charavin Ribouldingue Rouge Bio is a lively, fruit-forward blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault from the sunny southern Rhône. Made in an easygoing Vin de France style, it prioritises freshness and drinkability over heavy oak or appellation conventions. The family estate has been making wine in Cairanne since 1880.
Tasting Notes
Bright cherry-red in colour with violet highlights, it opens with fresh aromas of strawberry, cherry and pomegranate, alongside delicate notes of rose and peony. A touch of redcurrant and white pepper adds lift and character.
Production
The grapes come from younger vines in the southern Rhône, where a warm Mediterranean climate, limestone-rich hills and the cooling Mistral wind help shape ripe yet fresh wines. The blend is 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, with yields of around 25 hl/ha. The wine is made using traditional red-wine methods and aged in concrete tanks to preserve its pure fruit; harvesting details are not specified. The vineyard is farmed organically. Its juicy, softly structured style is best enjoyed while young, rather than cellared for extended ageing.
Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool, at around 14–16°C, with grilled sausages, roast chicken, Mediterranean vegetables or a simple charcuterie board. Its fresh, uncomplicated style needs no formal decanting, though a brief rest in the glass will let the aromas open.
Producer
Domaine Rabasse Charavin is a family-owned estate in Cairanne with roots dating back to 1880, when François Rabasse acquired a small property among vines and olive trees. Today, the family farms about 45 hectares across Cairanne, Rasteau, Violès and Travaillan, producing both appellation wines and more informal bottlings such as Ribouldingue. The estate works organically, avoids chemical herbicides and artificial fertilisers, and holds France’s Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification.
