Domaine de Villaine’s 2023 La Digoine is a vivid, fruit-led Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, combining ripe red-berry character with freshness and a gentle savoury edge. Its open, polished style reflects the region’s growing reputation for expressive Burgundy at the table.

Tasting Notes
A youthful ruby-red Pinot Noir, it opens with fragrant notes of raspberry, cherry and flowers. The palate is juicy and generous, with ripe, silky tannins and lively freshness that keeps the fruit focused; a hint of pepper and a lightly saline finish add savoury detail. It is approachable in its open, energetic style, though no specific cellaring window is provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16 °C, ideally after giving the wine a little air. It should pair particularly well with veal served with olives and tomato; roast poultry, pork or mushroom dishes would also suit its bright fruit and supple tannins. A brief decant or 20–30 minutes in an open bottle should be sufficient.

Producer
Domaine de Villaine is based in Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise and was established in 1971 by Aubert and Pamela de Villaine. The domaine has played an important role in bringing attention to the region, especially Bouzeron and its Aligoté wines, and is known for producing Burgundy with a strong sense of place.
