Description

Domaine de la Roche Aiguë’s 2023 Auxey-Duresses Blanc is an elegant, mineral-driven Chardonnay offering freshness, generous texture and a discreet touch of oak. From a village just west of Meursault, it gives a charming expression of Côte de Beaune white Burgundy and the area’s classic style at a more accessible level.

Tasting Notes
Pale in appearance, with aromas of citrus, yellow apple, fresh almond and white flowers, complemented by subtle notes of brioche and oak. The palate is lively and fresh yet rounded and full, balancing ripe fruit and mineral precision with well-integrated acidity; the finish is clean, persistent and gently creamy. Enjoy now for its freshness, or cellar it for added complexity. It should drink well through approximately 2032.

Production
Made from 100% Chardonnay grown on the family’s higher-altitude vineyards between Melin and Saint-Romain. The limestone- and clay-rich soils contribute freshness and mineral definition, while maturation in French oak barrels adds roundness and complexity. Harvesting and specific vinification details are not provided.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for shellfish, scallops, grilled or pan-fried fish, fish in a creamy sauce, light poultry and gratins. It also pairs well with Comté and Gruyère. Serve at 10–12°C in a generously sized white-wine glass; decanting is not essential, though a little time in the glass can help open the wine.
