The 2000 Domaine de la Grange des Pères Rouge is a powerful yet polished expression of the Hérault, balancing southern French spice with freshness and concentration. Grange des Pères helped bring wider attention to the quality and ambition of wines from the Languedoc.

Tasting Notes
The original 2003 tasting note describes deep aromas of pepper-spiced blackberry and garrigue, followed by dark cherry, black raspberry, floral tones and other red-fruit nuances. Its palate was praised for being juicy, fresh, concentrated and harmonious, with a luxurious finish. The note’s suggested drinking window was 2000–2014, so this bottle is now well beyond that original estimate. Its condition will depend greatly on storage; open carefully and assess it before deciding whether to decant.

Food & Serving
Try it with slow-roasted lamb, grilled or braised beef, or a savoury mushroom dish. Serve at around 16–18°C. Given its age, taste a small pour on opening; if it is sound but initially closed, allow it to breathe briefly, using a gentle decant only if needed.
