Description
Domaine Berthelemot’s Volnay Le Village 2020 brings together concentrated dark-fruit character, floral notes and finely integrated oak in a wine that balances substance with finesse. Bourgogne Aujourd’hui awarded it 18.5/20 in June–July 2022, praising its rich fruit and well-judged structure.
Tasting Notes
The wine is likely deep ruby in the glass, with an inviting nose of dark fruit, flowers and subtle oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and concentrated, with a refined texture and a rounded, fruit-led finish.
Its balance of intensity and structure should allow it to develop over the next few years, while it can also be enjoyed now with a little air.
Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast chicken, duck, or pork, or pair it with mushroom dishes and gently aged cheeses. If opening young, give the wine 30–60 minutes in a decanter to let its aromas unfold.
