Description

Corte Manzini’s L’Acino is a dry, gently sparkling Lambrusco Grasparossa that shows how far this Emilia-Romagna classic has come from its inexpensive, mass-market past. Made from fruit that includes grapes from vines up to 70 years old, it offers vivid dark-fruit character, freshness and a lively frizzante sparkle.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to violet in colour, with fine, lively bubbles. The nose is fresh and expressive, showing sour cherry, blackberry and other dark berries alongside elderberry, floral hints and a cool, lightly herbal, peppery edge.

Production
Produced in Emilia-Romagna from Lambrusco Grasparossa, including fruit from vines up to 70 years old. Corte Manzini has focused on lower yields as part of the effort to raise Lambrusco’s quality. The wine is made using the Charmat method, which gives it its fresh, gently sparkling character. Specific vineyard soils and harvesting methods are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve very cold, ideally straight from an ice bucket. Its fresh acidity, dark-fruit flavours and moderate tannins make it a good match for robust dishes and meat, including richly flavoured regional cooking. Decanting is not recommended for this frizzante wine; open and pour while well chilled.

Producer
The Manzini family, based in Emilia-Romagna, has helped drive Lambrusco’s quality revival over the past decade. Their work with reduced yields and older vines is part of a broader effort to restore the reputation of this historic local wine style. L’Acino has received three hearts in Merum Selezione and a ‘Very Good’ rating of 87 points from Wein-Plus.
