Corte Giara Valpolicella 2025

Corte Giara Valpolicella is a fresh, approachable red from the historic Valpolicella area, made from Corvina Veronese and Rondinella. Founded by the Allegrini family in 1989, the Corte Giara project brings together selected growers to offer a modern, easy-drinking expression of the region.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby-red in the glass, it opens with aromas of cherry and black pepper, joined by hints of herbs. The palate is dry and lively, with fresh fruit, a gently spicy character and soft tannins. Its balanced acidity lends the wine a light, harmonious feel. Enjoy it while its fruit is fresh. Its approachable style is suited to drinking young rather than extended cellaring.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards in Fumane, in the heart of Valpolicella, northeast of Verona. At 180–250 metres above sea level, southeast-facing sites benefit from a mild, well-ventilated climate influenced by nearby Lake Garda, while clay- and limestone-rich soils help shape the wine’s fresh, aromatic character. Vines are trained using both trellised and pergola systems. The grapes are hand-harvested in September and carefully selected, then destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, with regular pump-overs for colour extraction, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine rests in steel for around three months and is then given time in bottle.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for tomato-based pasta, pizza, grilled sausages, roasted chicken and mild cheeses. Serve slightly cool, around 14–16°C, to highlight its freshness. Decanting is not necessary, though a brief airing in the glass can help the aromas open.

Corte Giara was established in 1989 by the Allegrini family, drawing inspiration from the traditional farmsteads of Fumane. The project works with selected local grape growers to create accessible wines that express the character of the Verona wine region in a contemporary style. This Valpolicella reflects that focus on careful hand harvesting and precise winemaking.
