Contratto Alta Langa Blanc de Blancs Pas Dosé 2022 is a refined Italian sparkling wine made exclusively from Chardonnay in Piedmont’s Alta Langa DOCG. Produced in the traditional method and released without dosage, it offers a pure, precise expression of the grape, while reflecting Contratto’s long-standing role in Italy’s sparkling-wine tradition.

Tasting Notes
Bright and elegant in appearance, the wine is animated by a fine, persistent mousse. Its subtle yet expressive aroma combines lemon zest, acacia honey and delicate strawberry blossom with a lightly toasted character developed during its extended bottle ageing. The palate is dynamic, vertical and pleasantly savoury, with fresh citrus notes and a lively, spicy edge balanced by a smooth, creamy texture. Its dry, dosage-free style highlights the wine’s natural freshness and precision. It is drinking beautifully now and should develop added toast and mineral complexity over the next few years if stored carefully.

Production
Made from 100% Chardonnay grown in the hilly Alta Langa area of Piedmont, this Blanc de Blancs is produced using the traditional method. The wine undergoes a long secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged for at least 36 months after the first disgorgement. Riddling is carried out manually over four weeks, while the absence of dosage preserves the wine’s pure, crisp character and delicate balance.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its freshness and creamy texture make it an excellent match for oysters, shellfish, sushi, grilled fish, delicate seafood risotto and fresh goat’s cheese. It also works particularly well as an aperitif. Decanting is not recommended; pour gently into narrow sparkling-wine glasses to preserve the fine bubbles and aromatic detail.
