Description
Chateau Montifaud XO Petite Champagne Magnum is a refined Cognac from one of the most respected family estates in the Petite Champagne cru. Matured with care and bottled in magnum format, it offers an elegant expression of depth, finesse, and long ageing tradition.
Tasting Notes
Deep amber in the glass, with a rich and polished appearance that hints at its maturity. The nose opens with layers of dried apricot, candied orange peel, vanilla, toasted oak, and subtle floral notes, followed by touches of spice, walnut, and rancio complexity.
On the palate, it is smooth and well-rounded, balancing concentrated dried fruit, honeyed sweetness, fine oak, and warming spice with a long, graceful finish. The Petite Champagne terroir brings a particularly elegant structure and aromatic lift, while the magnum format helps preserve freshness and development over time. With proper storage, it will continue to evolve beautifully for years.
Production
Produced in the Petite Champagne appellation of Cognac, an area known for chalky soils that promote finesse, aromatic intensity, and excellent ageing potential. Chateau Montifaud works as a family estate, carefully selecting and distilling grapes from its own vineyards before ageing the spirit in oak casks, where it develops complexity and harmony over many years.
Food & Serving
Best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass to appreciate its layered aroma and texture, ideally at room temperature. It pairs well with dark chocolate, crème brûlée, roasted nuts, or a fine cigar, and does not typically require decanting, although allowing it to rest briefly in the glass will help reveal its full aromatic range.
Producer
Chateau Montifaud is a long-established family producer with deep roots in the Cognac region, particularly in Petite Champagne. Known for traditional methods and a strong commitment to estate-grown spirits, the house has built a reputation for producing expressive, well-aged Cognacs that reflect both craftsmanship and terroir.
