Château Lynch-Bages 2019

Château Lynch-Bages 2019 is a powerful yet refined expression of Pauillac, combining the appellation’s signature Cabernet Sauvignon character with remarkable freshness and precision. Widely regarded as one of the estate’s most successful recent vintages, it offers the concentration, structure and mineral depth expected from this celebrated 1855 Fifth Growth château, while retaining an elegant, contemporary polish.

Tasting Notes
Deep and richly coloured in the glass, the wine opens with an intense bouquet of blackcurrant and blackberry, layered with violet, graphite, cedar and subtle spice from oak ageing. The aromatic profile balances ripe fruit with a distinctly Pauillac-like freshness and mineral character. On the palate, impressive depth and power are matched by finesse. Firm yet ripe tannins provide a refined structure, while precise acidity keeps the wine lifted and energetic. Dark berries develop into notes of bitter chocolate, liquorice and discreet saline minerality on the long, persistent finish. Still youthful but already harmonious, Château Lynch-Bages 2019 has the concentration and balance to evolve beautifully from the mid-2020s through the 2040s and potentially into the 2050s.

Production
The wine is produced in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s gravelly Médoc terroir, where well-drained soils encourage Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve both concentration and aromatic precision. The 2019 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Careful selection and precise vinification preserve the character of the vintage, while maturation in a high proportion of new French oak contributes additional structure, spice and complexity without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decant for one to two hours when enjoying the wine in its youth; older bottles should be handled more gently and decanted only shortly before serving, if necessary. Its structure and depth make it a natural partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison and other richly flavoured grilled or braised meats. It also pairs well with hard, mature cheeses and dishes featuring earthy mushrooms or truffle.

The property has been associated with the Cazes family since 1939, under whose stewardship it has developed an international reputation for consistently full-bodied, age-worthy wines.
