Tasting Notes
Pale to golden in appearance, the wine opens with a vibrant bouquet of white fruits, orchard fruit, and mango, lifted by subtle spring फूलoral notes. On the palate it feels beautifully poised rather than heavy, with concentrated fruit wrapped in bright acidity and a long, penetrating finish. Compared with richer years, this vintage shows a more moderate weight and a very elegant structure, making it especially compelling for lovers of finesse in sweet wines. It has excellent ageing potential and should continue to develop complexity for decades, gaining honeyed, nutty, and saffron-like nuances over time.

Production
Produced in Bordeaux’s Sauternes region, Château d’Yquem benefits from a unique terroir shaped by morning mists, warm afternoons, and the surrounding conditions that encourage noble rot. The harvest is carried out by multiple selective pickings to ensure only perfectly botrytised grapes are picked at peak ripeness, with the 2018 harvest taking place over a short window from late September to mid-October. The estate is known for its meticulous vinification and exceptionally low yields, and in this vintage only around 40,000 bottles were produced, reflecting the strict selection that defines Yquem’s quality.

Food & Serving
Best served well chilled, around 8–10°C, alongside foie gras, blue cheese, apricot tart, poached stone fruits, or refined dishes featuring Asian spices. A short decant can help reveal the wine’s aromatic depth, though it is equally impressive poured directly from the bottle.
