Description
From one of the highest points in Santa Barbara County, Chanin’s Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 brings together a sunny California setting and cooling coastal influence. Its limestone-rich, sandy soils, subtle French oak and unfiltered bottling give the wine a distinctive sense of place.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with cherry and blackberry, joined by rose, lavender and black tea. On the palate, cherry, cranberry, plum and crushed redcurrant meet notes of mint and spice, with fine acidity and a long, mineral finish.
Production
Los Alamos Vineyard’s elevated position receives plenty of California sunshine while benefiting from a cooling climate, and its soils contain generous amounts of limestone and sand. Winemaker Gavin Chanin aged the wine for 15 months in French oak barrels, 15% of them new, and bottled it without filtration. Harvesting details were not provided.
Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, around 14–16°C. Its bright acidity and delicate fruit make it a natural match for roast chicken, duck, grilled salmon or mushroom dishes. A brief rest in the glass should be enough; decanting is optional.
