Description

From one of the highest sites in Santa Barbara County, Chanin Los Alamos Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 brings together California sunshine and a cooling coastal-influenced climate. Its mix of limestone and sandy soils, followed by measured ageing in French oak, gives this single-vineyard Chardonnay a distinctive sense of place.

Tasting Notes
Expect a bright golden hue, with aromas and flavours typical of a cool-climate Chardonnay: citrus and orchard fruit, complemented by subtle creamy and toasted-oak notes. The palate should feel fresh and composed, with the vineyard’s limestone-rich soils lending a lively impression of minerality. The wine spent 15 months in barrel, which can bring added texture and integration. It should be enjoyable now, and may develop further over the next few years if stored well.

Production
Los Alamos Vineyard sits at a high elevation in Santa Barbara County, where warm California sunshine is tempered by a cooling climate. Its soils contain both limestone and sand. Winemaker Gavin Chanin aged the wine for 15 months in French oak barrels, 10% of them new, and bottled it without filtration.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C. It would pair well with roast chicken, grilled fish, shellfish, or creamy dishes that complement Chardonnay without overwhelming its freshness. Decanting is not essential; if the wine seems reserved, give it a little time in the glass before serving.
