Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright ruby-red colour with delicate violet highlights. Its expressive yet refined nose reveals red plum and prune-like fruit, complemented by subtle spicy and gently balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is soft, rounded and pleasantly persistent, with an almost sweet-fruited character balanced by mild structure. A distinctive note of liquorice adds depth to the finish. Enjoyable in its youth, the 2023 vintage is best appreciated over the next few years rather than kept for extended ageing.

Production
The Malvasia Nera di Lecce grapes are grown in Salento’s warm Mediterranean climate on alluvial soils composed of sand, silt and clay, with calcareous areas that contribute additional nuance. After destemming, the must and skins macerate for 6–7 days at 24–26°C to extract colour and flavour. The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation before maturing for approximately four months in barriques, resulting in a smooth and rounded style.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C alongside grilled red meat, roasted dishes and mild, mature cheeses. Its soft fruit profile also works particularly well with spicy cuisine and recipes featuring a gentle sweet-and-savoury element. Decanting is not essential for this approachable young wine, although 20–30 minutes of aeration in a decanter or opened bottle can help reveal its fruit and liquorice character.
