Description

Bruno Clair’s Clos du Fonteny is a rare Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru monopole, a vineyard held in its entirety by one producer. Its aristocratic reputation and muscular structure set it apart, while its commanding tannins suggest a wine built for the cellar.

Tasting Notes
Layers of blackberry, truffle and violet bring dark-fruited depth and floral lift. The palate is dense and powerful, with majestic, firm tannins that call for patience and promise rewarding development with age.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast duck, venison, beef or a mushroom dish that can match its depth. A short decant may help open the wine; for a young bottle, give it time in the glass and allow the tannins to soften.

Producer
Bruno Clair founded his domaine in 1979 and continues a long family connection with Burgundy, including the legacy of the Clair-Daü estate. Based in Marsannay, the domaine is known for wines from several important Côte de Nuits appellations, with Gevrey-Chambertin among its notable holdings.
