Bric Cencurio Barolo 2021

Bric Cenciurio Barolo 2021 is a classic expression of Nebbiolo from Piedmont’s historic Barolo area, combining the grape’s signature structure with an elegant, fruit-driven character. Made by the family-owned Bric Cenciurio estate, this Barolo reflects the diversity of several vineyard parcels and offers the depth, complexity and ageing potential expected of a DOCG wine.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a classic ruby-red colour, with the beginnings of the garnet hues that develop as Nebbiolo matures. Its aroma reveals layers of dark fruit, complemented by the refined complexity associated with traditionally made Barolo. On the palate, it is balanced and firmly structured, with pronounced yet well-integrated tannins, a harmonious texture and a long, persistent finish. The 2021 vintage has the concentration and structure to develop further in bottle. It can be enjoyed now with careful decanting, but should reward cellaring for more than a decade as its fruit, tannins and savoury complexity become increasingly integrated.

Production
The grapes are sourced from vineyards in the Barolo production area, where varying elevations, exposures and soil types contribute complementary nuances to the finished wine. Nebbiolo grapes from different parcels are carefully blended to create a complex and authentic reflection of the region. Following harvest and fermentation, the wine is matured in large wooden casks, allowing it to develop gradually while preserving the character of the grape and refining its tannins. This extended ageing also gives the wine excellent cellaring potential.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 18°C after decanting for around one hour, particularly when enjoying the wine in its youth. Its structured palate makes it an excellent partner for juicy red meats, braised dishes and game, while its depth and mature tannins also complement aged cheeses. With further bottle age, decanting may be shortened to avoid disturbing the wine’s developing aromas.

Founded in 1996, Bric Cenciurio is a family-owned winery dedicated to expressing the authenticity of Piedmont and its celebrated Barolo DOCG appellation. The estate works with grapes from vineyards at different elevations and places emphasis on preserving biodiversity, while oenologist Alessandro Pittatore oversees the winemaking. Traditional maturation in large casks highlights the estate’s regional style, and its careful approach has earned recognition including 93 points from James Suckling.
