Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 9

Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 9 is a rich, approachable California Cabernet Sauvignon created by Chuck Wagner of Caymus Vineyards and produced as part of the Wagner Family of Wine. Rather than representing a single vintage, Lot 9 is a multi-vintage blend sourced from selected vineyards across California, allowing the wine to deliver a consistently ripe, generous style year after year. It offers the polished, fruit-forward character associated with California Cabernet in an immediately enjoyable format.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby to garnet-red in appearance, the wine opens with inviting aromas of blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, plum and cassis, followed by hints of vanilla, cocoa and warm baking spices. The palate is full-bodied and supple, with juicy dark-fruit flavours supported by silky, well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. Chocolate and sweet oak nuances carry through to a long, creamy finish. This is a generous Cabernet designed for drinking now, although its structure should allow it to develop further over the short term when properly stored.

Production
The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards across California, combining warm, sunny sites that promote ripe Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with cooler areas that contribute freshness and structure. Individual lots are fermented separately at controlled temperatures to preserve their distinct character before being blended into a harmonious final wine. Oak ageing adds layers of vanilla, spice, cocoa and polish. As a non-vintage Lot 9 release, the blend is crafted for consistency rather than vintage expression.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C, allowing the wine to show its fruit and supple texture without becoming overly warm. It pairs particularly well with grilled or roasted beef, lamb, spiced sausages and charcuterie. Decanting is not essential, but 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help open the aromas and soften the wine further.
