Description

Bodega Chacra Mainqué Chardonnay 2025 is a distinctive Patagonian white shaped by the collaboration between Piero Incisa della Rocchetta of Bodega Chacra and Jean-Marc Roulot, the renowned Meursault vigneron. Produced in the cool, arid Río Negro Valley, it combines Chardonnay’s natural freshness with the precision and textural finesse associated with great white Burgundy. The result is an elegant, highly individual wine from one of Argentina’s most exciting terroirs.

Tasting Notes
Bright and lively in appearance, the wine opens with an expressive bouquet of white peach, lemon blossom and chamomile, complemented by the subtle mineral character of its Patagonian origin. On the palate, it is fresh and finely balanced, with delicate fruit, silky texture and a long, focused finish marked by cool mineral notes. Its restrained 12% alcohol and vibrant acidity give the wine an appealing sense of precision, while maturation in oak, stainless steel and amphora adds depth without obscuring the fruit. It is ready to enjoy now, though its freshness and structure should allow it to develop beautifully over the next few years.

Production
The Chardonnay is grown in Mainqué in the Río Negro Valley, a glacially formed region in northern Patagonia situated around 230 metres above sea level. The desert-like climate brings very low humidity, cool winds from the Andes and pronounced differences between day and night temperatures, helping preserve freshness and aromatic definition. The vineyards are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles. After harvesting, the wine is matured for 11 months in a carefully balanced combination of French oak barrels (40%), stainless steel (40%) and handmade amphorae (20%), creating a refined interplay of fruit, minerality and texture.

Food & Serving
Serve at 10–12°C in a large Burgundy glass to give the wine room to open and express its aromas. It is an excellent match for oysters, shellfish, grilled fish with herbs and lobster bisque, while its texture also complements mushroom and truffle risotto, creamy seafood pasta and fresh goat’s cheese. Decanting is not essential, but a brief 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help reveal additional layers when enjoyed young.

Producer
Bodega Chacra was founded by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, a member of the family behind the legendary Tuscan wine Sassicaia. Based in Patagonia, the estate has become particularly celebrated for its outstanding Pinot Noir and its pioneering commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Since 2016, Incisa della Rocchetta has worked closely with Jean-Marc Roulot of Meursault, whose Burgundian expertise has helped shape Chacra’s precise, terroir-driven white wines. The estate’s old vineyards, distinctive climate and meticulous approach have established Bodega Chacra as one of Argentina’s most respected fine-wine producers.
