Bocca di Lupo Trentangeli Aglianico Castel del Monte 2021 is a characterful Apulian red built around the region’s powerful, late-ripening Aglianico, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The blend combines Aglianico’s structure and savoury depth with the darker fruit and supple spice of international varieties, offering a polished expression of Castel del Monte.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour with violet reflections, this wine opens with aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries and plums, followed by hints of liquorice, violet, Mediterranean herbs and gentle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generously flavoured, with concentrated dark fruit, balanced freshness and firm yet rounded tannins. A savoury, subtly earthy finish adds complexity. The wine’s structure and Aglianico backbone should allow it to develop further over the next several years, gaining softer tannins and more pronounced savoury and balsamic nuances with careful cellaring.

Production
The Castel del Monte area is characterised by elevated, limestone-rich landscapes and a warm Mediterranean climate moderated by altitude and coastal influences. These conditions are particularly well suited to late-ripening Aglianico, encouraging gradual flavour development while preserving freshness. The wine is made from Aglianico, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, although specific harvesting and vinification details for this bottling have not been provided.
