Description

Bérêche & Fils Champagne Brut Réserve Magnum is a benchmark grower Champagne, bottled in large format for those moments that call for something truly special. Crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grown in some of the region’s finest sites, it delivers depth, purity and energy in equal measure. In magnum, this cuvée gains extra refinement and complexity, making it a superb choice for celebrations or for cellaring.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the Brut Réserve shows a luminous straw-gold color with a fine, persistent bead and an elegant, creamy mousse. The nose is complex and inviting, with notes of ripe orchard fruits—apple, pear and white peach—layered over citrus zest, brioche, toasted hazelnuts, white flowers and a discreet chalky minerality. On the palate, it is taut yet generous, balancing vibrant acidity with a silky, mouth-filling texture. Flavors of lemon curd, baked apple, quince and stone fruit unfold alongside hints of almond, pastry cream and subtle spice, all carried by a mineral backbone that reflects its Champagne origins. The finish is long, dry and precise, with a saline edge that keeps you coming back for another sip. In magnum format, this wine tends to evolve more slowly and harmoniously; it is already delicious on release but will gain further complexity and nuance over 5–10 years in a good cellar.

Production
Bérêche & Fils farms vineyards across several prized terroirs of the Champagne region in France, with a focus on chalk, clay-limestone and sandy soils that contribute both tension and aromatic depth to the wines. The Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir for the Brut Réserve are typically harvested by hand at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and ensure meticulous selection of the healthiest fruit. In the cellar, the domaine follows a low-intervention, artisanal approach: fermentations are often carried out with indigenous yeasts in a mix of stainless steel and oak, and the wine rests on its lees to build texture and complexity before secondary fermentation in bottle. Extended aging on the lees in bottle adds creaminess and finesse to the mousse, while dosage is kept moderate to allow the character of the terroir and the blend to shine through.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is wonderfully versatile at the table, making it an ideal magnum for gatherings. It pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, shrimp, sushi, and other delicate seafood, as well as lightly fried dishes, poultry, charcuterie and soft cheeses like Brie or young Comté. It’s equally at home as an elegant apéritif or alongside a refined main course centered around fish or white meat. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F); if possible, pour it into white wine glasses rather than narrow flutes to let the aromas fully open. Decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle 10–15 minutes before serving will help the wine express its full aromatic range.

Producer
Founded in the 19th century, Bérêche & Fils is one of Champagne’s most respected grower-producers, based in the Montagne de Reims and working predominantly with estate-grown fruit. Over generations, the family has built a reputation for meticulous vineyard work and thoughtful, terroir-driven winemaking that showcases the nuances of their various parcels. Today, Bérêche is widely regarded as a reference point in the grower Champagne movement, known for combining traditional methods with a precise, contemporary touch. Their Champagnes, including the Brut Réserve, are consistently praised by sommeliers and critics for their purity, balance and capacity to age, making them highly sought after by Champagne enthusiasts around the world.
