Benito Ferrara’s Greco di Tufo Terra d'Uva is a refined expression of one of Campania’s most celebrated white wines, shaped by the volcanic soils of the DOCG zone. Made entirely from Greco di Tufo, it combines elegance, mineral drive, and a distinctly southern Italian character that has made this variety a benchmark for the region.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow color with golden reflections, immediately suggesting brightness and ripeness. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with notes of acacia, cedar, white peach, summer pear, elderflower, hay, celery, and a fragrant herbal edge of thyme and sage, all lifted by a chalky mineral nuance.
On the palate, the wine is soft and balanced, with a textured mouthfeel and a subtle vegetal finish that adds complexity and freshness. Its volcanic origin gives it a distinct saline-mineral tension, and while it is already very enjoyable young, it should hold well for a few years, developing additional depth and nuance over time.
Production
Produced in Campania from 100% Greco di Tufo, this wine comes from a terroir defined by volcanic soils that lend the wine its signature minerality and structure. The grapes are gently pressed, then the wine is aged for 7 months in stainless steel on the fine lees, followed by 1 to 2 months in bottle to preserve freshness and aromatic precision.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, especially suited to fish, white fish, shellfish, and delicate cheeses. Serve it chilled at 10-12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary; a brief aeration in the glass is enough to open up its aromatic profile.
Producer
Benito Ferrara is a highly respected producer in Campania, known for crafting wines that showcase the authentic identity of Greco di Tufo and the volcanic landscape around it. The estate has earned a strong reputation for quality and consistency, helping to reinforce the DOCG’s status as one of Italy’s most distinctive white wine appellations.
