Andrias Gvino Rkatsiteli Vardo Dry Rose Wine 2024

Andrias Gvino’s 2024 Rkatsiteli Vardisperi is an unconventional, tannic skin-contact wine made from a rare Georgian grape. Fermented and matured in qvevri, the traditional clay vessels associated with Georgia’s long winemaking heritage, it sits between rosé and orange wine in character.

Tasting Notes
Its striking orange-red colour sets it apart from a typical pale rosé. The aroma is described as captivating and unconventional, while the palate brings clearly perceptible tannins and a more structured feel than the wine’s rosé-like appearance might suggest. The wine is unfined and unfiltered, so natural sediment may develop in the bottle. No specific aging potential is provided; store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place.

Production
Made in Kakheti from organically treated Rkatsiteli Vardisperi grapes, this wine spends one month in contact with its skins and is matured in qvevri. It is produced without additives or added sulphur and is neither filtered nor clarified. Vineyard-site details and harvesting methods are not specified.

Food & Serving
Its noticeable tannins make it a natural match for roasted meats, barbecue and cheese, while its distinctive character can also stand up to spicy dishes and fusion food. Serve slightly cool, around 12–14°C, to let its aromas show while keeping the tannins lively. Decanting is optional; pour gently if you wish to leave any sediment in the bottle.
