A. Christmann’s Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad Riesling Erstes Gewächs is a precise, terroir-driven Pfalz white wine made from organically farmed Riesling. The cuvée brings together grapes from several distinguished parcels, including the former Hofstück site, combining bright mineral freshness with the depth and concentration associated with this celebrated vineyard. The 2024 vintage is a refined expression of one of Ruppertsberg’s most distinguished Riesling locations.

Tasting Notes
Brilliant pale yellow in the glass, this Riesling opens with aromas of ripe citrus, white peach and green apple, complemented by floral nuances and a distinctive mineral character. On the palate, it is concentrated yet energetic, balancing juicy orchard fruit with refreshing acidity and a subtle stony, gently spicy finish. The wine’s extract and vibrant structure give it excellent ageing potential. It can be enjoyed for its youthful freshness, but should develop greater complexity and softer, more layered fruit with several years in bottle.

Production
The east- to southeast-facing terraces of the Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad are characterised by weathered colourful sandstone. Their open, sun-rich position, away from the nearby forest edge, allows the vines to receive long, even exposure from early morning into the evening, encouraging fully ripe and flavourful grapes. The fruit is selectively harvested by hand and transported in small crates before spontaneous fermentation and maturation in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and large wooden casks. The wine is produced from organically farmed vineyards.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 9–11°C to highlight both its freshness and complexity. It is a natural partner for grilled or steamed fish, shellfish, poultry, asparagus and vegetable dishes, while its acidity also works well with creamy sauces and mild goat’s cheese. Decanting is not essential when young, but 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help the wine open; older bottles are best poured carefully to preserve their delicacy.
