A. Christmann Riesling Aus den Lagen is an organic Pfalz Riesling that brings together fruit from some of the estate’s finest vineyard parcels. Introduced with the 2021 vintage as the estate’s new entry point to its vineyard-focused wines, it draws on sites around Gimmeldingen, Ruppertsberg, Neustadt and Königsbach, including renowned vineyards such as Meerspinne, Vogelsang and Idig.

Production
The grapes come from parcels classified as VDP.ERSTE LAGE and VDP.GROSSE LAGE. The estate’s described approach for this cuvée includes hand-harvesting, a short period of maceration on the press, spontaneous fermentation and maturation mainly in traditional Doppelstück oak casks, largely without temperature control. Early bottling is intended to preserve freshness and vineyard expression. The available tasting information refers to the 2023 vintage, so specific details for 2024 are not included here.

Food & Serving
Try it with grilled or steamed fish, shellfish, fresh goat’s cheese or lightly spiced Asian dishes. Serve chilled, around 8–10°C. Decanting is not usually necessary for a fresh, youthful Riesling, though a brief airing in the glass can help it open up.
