Villa Venti Primo Segno is the estate’s flagship Sangiovese and the wine that marked the beginning of the family’s winemaking journey. A confident and expressive Sangiovese Superiore from Emilia-Romagna, it reflects both the region’s Roman heritage and Villa Venti’s careful reading of its clay-rich terroir.

Tasting Notes
The 2022 vintage presents the classic character of Sangiovese, with a vivid ruby-red colour and a fragrant nose of red cherries, raspberries and violets, complemented by subtle herbal and earthy nuances. On the palate, it is structured and energetic, combining fresh acidity with fine tannins and concentrated red-fruit flavours. Its balance and firm structure make it enjoyable in its youth, while careful cellaring should allow added savoury complexity to develop over the next few years.

Production
Villa Venti planted four different Sangiovese clones, each selected for its suitability to the estate’s varied clay soils. The clones produce naturally loose bunches, helping promote healthy, well-aerated fruit and focused flavour. The wine is made from the 2022 harvest, although specific details regarding harvesting dates, fermentation and maturation have not been provided.

Food & Serving
A versatile red for the table, Primo Segno pairs well with tagliatelle with ragù, lasagne, grilled or roasted meats, sausages, mushroom dishes and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential for the 2022 vintage, but 30–45 minutes of aeration can help open the wine and soften its youthful structure.

Villa Venti’s Primo Segno was the first wine produced by the estate and remains a symbol of the family’s original winemaking vision. Its name, meaning “first sign,” refers both to the beginning of the estate’s own adventure and to the ancient presence of vines in this area, dating back to Roman times. The wine represents Villa Venti’s commitment to expressing its Emilia-Romagna terroir through carefully selected Sangiovese clones.
