Domaine Saint-Damien’s Gigondas Clovis Saurel 2023 is an ambitious, expressive take on Grenache, combining the power and concentration of old vines with notable freshness and finesse. Made entirely from old-vine Grenache, it offers a compelling portrait of the variety in Gigondas.

Tasting Notes
The nose opens with sweet cherry and dark raspberry, followed by black pepper, Provençal herbs, garrigue and floral notes. Black cherry, spiced red fruit, white pepper and a hint of menthol add further complexity.

Production
Made from 100% Grenache grown on old vines, the wine undergoes an extended maceration in concrete tanks before ageing for 15 months in demi-muids. This approach gives the wine concentration and structure while allowing the fruit to remain clear and expressive. The 2023 is reported to have the potential to develop beautifully over around 15 years.

Food & Serving
Serve at around 16–18°C with roast lamb, grilled meats, herb-crusted dishes or a rich vegetable stew. Decant for about an hour before serving to let the wine’s fruit and savoury aromatics unfold.
