Description
Domaine de Beaurenard’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Bio 2022 combines the generous Mediterranean character of the southern Rhône with remarkable precision and elegance. Crafted from a classic blend of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, it offers depth, complexity and beautifully integrated structure rather than sheer weight. Châteauneuf-du-Pape has been one of France’s most prestigious appellations for centuries, and this is a refined expression of its enduring reputation.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby-red in appearance, the wine opens with an expressive bouquet of dark berries, earth, subtle tobacco and warm spice, complemented by finely integrated oak nuances. There are no overly jammy tones; instead, the fruit feels concentrated yet fresh, with an inviting savoury complexity.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, supported by vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins. Rich dark fruit is balanced by peppery spice, earthy undertones and a long, persistent finish. The 2022 vintage has the concentration to develop beautifully in bottle and should reward cellaring for at least 10–15 years under suitable conditions.
Production
Produced from organically farmed vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where the warm Mediterranean climate, diverse limestone- and clay-rich soils and characteristic rounded stones help retain heat while supporting ripe, concentrated fruit. The varieties are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified with a traditional Rhône approach designed to preserve both freshness and varietal character. Maturation in a combination of oak vessels allows the wine to gain depth and polish without masking its fruit or terroir.
Food & Serving
A natural partner for hearty dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, beef stew, venison and grilled ribeye. It also works beautifully with Provençal cuisine, herb-crusted vegetables, roasted root vegetables and mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, preferably after allowing the bottle to breathe for 30–60 minutes. Decanting is recommended for the young 2022 vintage, particularly when serving it alongside rich food.
Producer
Domaine de Beaurenard is a historic family domaine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a winemaking heritage spanning seven generations. The estate is recognised for combining the appellation’s traditional Mediterranean richness with a refined, terroir-driven style, while organic and increasingly holistic vineyard practices underline its focus on long-term quality. Its wines are regarded among the more elegant and precise interpretations of southern Rhône classics.
